In a comment on my recent post on the dawn of the era of permitless carry, reader Matthew Carberry makes the astute observation that calling permitless carry in states which issue carry permits “Vermont Carry” is a misnomer. The modern system of “permitless carry with permit for reciprocity,” therefore, is more properly called “Alaska Carry.”

Although I still prefer the simple descriptive phrase “permitless carry” over Alaska, Vermont, or Constitutional carry, if we are going to attach any state name to it, it should be Alaska.
P.S., I have not heard the phrase “Alaska Carry” before, so if reader Carberry has stolen it from someone else, blame him not me!
I can almost guarantee I stole it to reuse without attribution. That accounts for most of my good stuff.
