As a politically liberal Asian American gun owner who also studies American gun culture, today’s juxtaposition of the commemoration of Martin Luther King, Jr. and the inauguration of Donald Trump is cause for reflection.
I am putting together an opinion essay that I hope to send to some newspapers by the end of the day. Wish me luck.
I find it ironic that the Rev. King statue was constructed in the People’s Republic of China, the second worst offender of human rights in the last 100 years, after the Soviets who slaughtered as many as 20 million of their own population. Indeed. Very sad, also to see an American president suck up to a Russian dictator these days and say he won’t enforce a law passed by Congress and supported by the Supreme Court over a Chinese-owned social media platform.
