A Sociology of Firearms for the Twenty-First Century Now Published

Lest you thought I gave up the written word for YouTube fame, this post should assure you that video did not kill the blogging star (h/t The Buggles).

The special issue of the academic journal Sociological Perspectives I co-edited on “A Sociology of Firearms for the Twenty-First Century” is now published as the February 2022 issue.

Although the articles have long been available, it’s still satisfying to see them presented collectively. The articles are all open access (for now?) so grab them while you can from the journal’s website.

***The articles are paywalled, but if there are articles you are interested in seeing, please contact me and I will send them to you for educational purposes.***

My take on developing the field of gun studies in sociology can be found in the Special Issue Editors’ Introduction, co-written with my colleague Trent Steidley, but my contribution should be evident.

Table of contents for special issue available at https://journals.sagepub.com/toc/spxb/65/1

  1. If it was ever open access it didn’t stay that way for long. When I try to download the articles themselves, I either have to pay $37.50 per article or $198 for the issue.

    • Gah! You are right. They only appeared to be open-access to me because my phone was connected to the university network. Sorry. If there are articles you are interested in seeing (including all of them), email me at yamaned at wfu dot edu and I will send them to you for educational purposes.
